Judging Criteria

Our panel of judges will evaluate each team and decide the winners. We aim to bring together a diverse group of at least three judges each year, representing a broad range of relevant disciplines. To be eligible to win, teams must address at least one ADL (Activity of Daily Living) issue. Below is the grading matrix that our judges will use when evaluating pitches.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

The team’s idea/prototype should address at least one of these concerns:

  1. Eating: Being able to feed yourself by getting food and drink from a container into your mouth.
  2. Bathing: Being able to get into and out of a tub or shower and wash your body by yourself.
  3. Dressing/Grooming: Being able to put on and take off any necessary items of clothing and manage your personal hygiene.
  4. Toileting: Being able to get to and from the toilet, get on and off the toilet, and clean yourself.
  5. Transferring: Being able to get into and out of a bed, chair or wheelchair.
  6. Mobility: Being able to get around your home.
